In a word yes. We are a probably still a long way off from its commercialisation. But graphene is a wonder material destined to find its way into pretty much everything. There is likely to be a Graphene Age as revolutionary as plastics and more so than silicon.

Cool. My longing to take pics at night with 1/1000th second @ f/22 will one day be realised.

I believe some researchers at Manchester University are leading the world in certain applications of graphene...we could do with commercialising the technology ASAP and generating genuine wealth in high tech manufacturing for this country.

The building for the National Graphene Centre at the University of Manchester is rising higher all the time - I walk past the building site every day - and to give them their due the UK government are investing in developing the technology for wider roll-out. Still, given the potential of graphene it would have been quite appalling not to... gift horse and all that.

Are they making the building out of graphene?


You know one of the biggest downers on having a limited lifespan is never being able to see the technology that will be available in 100 years time. Imagine travelling back to 1913 and showing the peeps a Pentax K-5, and of course smartphones, laptops, flat screen TVs and even the microwave oven.
