You need to be more specific..

Good for the price?
Good for use with your camera (which is?)?
Good compared with some other lens?

"Good" is always relative.

It probably isn't good for use with a K10D, since it doesn't have an A-setting.

It probably is quite good if you wanted to use a reversing ring with it for macro, and didn't want to use one of your good lenses.

I don't know anything about it, but it would help those that do to say a bit more about what you want.

It's probably ok but I think you'd be better off getting a Pentax SMC-M 50mm F1.7 as one of those shouldn't be much more expensive.

If you are going to get a manual focus/exposure lens , then I would second the advice to get a pentax M 50mm 1.7 (or any other M 50 mm for that matter)

I have no experience of the lens for sale but have used the M 50 1.7 for 27 years and it is still going strong. Very well made, excellent optics and you will love the feel of the focus ring.

The lens in the auction looks to me as if it is a SMC Pentax-M or the older K version. If you plan to use it on a K10D, I would go for at least the SMC Pentax-A version to avoid the exposure issues that are well documented elswhere on this forum. That said, the BIN price is very low and is worth risking.

The description in that auction says it's a Chinon. If it is, I do agree with Niblue that the Pentax one would be a safer bet, and not much more expensive.

But as you say, if it's for the '10, then SMC-A 50mm F1.7 every time (I have two of these now, and an F2, so I'm not so bothered about the prices going up )

It is not a Pentax lens up for auction.

Agreed, and is currently (IMHO) way over its price, I would expect to get a genuibe Pentax for not much more.

This one is a far better option;

indeed not, it's a chinon. I had the F1.9 version at one point, not a bad lens but not as good as the Pentax equivalent. I replaced my Chinon 1.9 with a Pentax F2 and was happy. Later I got a Pentax A series 50 F1.7 and was happier still.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

I totally agree with niblue. I used a professional lab for prints in Belfast about 10 years ago. I always used Nikon and prime lenses. My camera failed one day and believe it or not my trusty FE2 which was my back up wouldn't work either. So, my only hope to complete a portrait sitting was my brother's ME Super and his only lens a 50mm f1.7 smc. I was really nervous about the results and when I collected them, the guy who would usually process my B&W film asked when I had changed to Leica?

Not blowing up another camera manufacturer's reputation but if you wanted to compare quality of a lens to another, Leica is a good place to start, and probably stop. By the way, it was this that made me switch to Pentax. I bought the lens of my brother and I still have it!!
