Is Premier Elements 9 compatible K-5 video .avi files?

Hi
I have recorded some "Full HD 25" video on my K-5. This is saved as an .AVI file, which plays with windows media player.
However when I try and import this into Adobe Premier Elements 9 I get an error message "This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed."
Has anyone got any ideas on this please?
Thanks Rob

After further research I have installed the Morgan Multimedia MPEG codec and it all seems to be working.

As you can tell, not a lot of video users on the forum.

Glad you found a solution to your problem though.

I think actually there are video users, but they don't use Premier Elements 9

Glad you sorted it out, although I was surprised to hear you needed an MPEG codec.

Me too actually! No issue with K7 files on Corel VS Pro or Windows Movie Maker.

I have also found you can do it by adding Quicktime from www.apple.com/quicktime. If I had read more of the adobe manual before I posted the question I would have found this out!

I'm having the same problem - a K-5 AVI won't import into Premiere Elements 9.

The error message, as Rob found, is "This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed."

Installing Quicktime didn't fix this for me, but the Morgan one did.
