The official Irix shop (link) is now selling the Irix 150mm f2.8 macro at half price - £247.39p (tax included). I've just checked what I paid for one in 2019 and now wish I hadn't looked...

I did look at it until I realised they wanted £70 for shipping 🙂
A question is only easy when you know the answer ..

The 150mm macro certainly is. Not an issue for me, I never use AF for macro.

Just looked ...shipping included is about £289 to England...fantastic price if you don't mind ordering from Europe.

Ordering from outside the UK ? It's 20% VAT on the cost price AND on the postage! You wanted Brexit - you've got it.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

So what's changed? I bought mine from another EU country before Brexit and paid 20% VAT on the lens and postage. There are only 2 things that are certain in life, one is death the other, of course, is ... taxes .

David... even the I agree with you 1000% on that subject starting with a B!....

Foriegn websites, and I also believe some in the EU as well, do not have to include taxes in the price. HELL.... I have seen retail websites in the UK that don't include VAT, which is illegal if you are selling consumer goods.

Most of the time people go on foriegn websites and buy stuff, then get caught out when their purchases are delivered. Simply because they fail to do checks....

I would love an Irix lens.... one day I will treat myself!

I emailed the distributor in Poland to enquire about the VAT situation...reply posted below;

Hello.
In case of shipping to the UK we use DDP incoterms, so we pay the VAT and customs. Part of that is included in the item price and part in the shipping cost.
Regards.

I'd love one of these IRIX 150 macros but have just bought a 50-135 so will have to wait. Above info might tempt someone else though? Well spotted Spad.

Regards

I paid 289 GBP shipped from one 'foreign' country to another foreign country so you're not getting stung. It also means I have almost the full set of macro ranges for the K mount.. 35, 50, 100, 150, 200 with some potential fillers at 90 (Tamron), 105 (Sigma, Kiron, Vivitar) and I think 180 (Voigtlander).

You haven't got a 70mm (Sigma) or 25mm 2.5-5x (Laowa) . And I'm not gonna sell mine to you and create gaps in my set of macro lenses .
