(Note: there is an iPad camera connector kit that allows USB or SD card support. But then the iPad is only 16Gb-64Gb... which isn't a great deal for cameras, unless you're using JPG only)

No because most were against a digital version of the Pentax Mag

well now

download the Nikon App - Nikon Learn and Explore

and go and see what's there

I'm busy reading Winter 2010 Nikon World Online on my little iTouch [ and there's more than that ]

As well as that there are other goodies - images , insights and techniques [ 3 different items there ]

Oh and a glossary of terminology

All good useful interesting stuff - - now Pentax could certainly do that

You want the best bit ?

It's all FREE

Ti I don't have a iPhone or iThouch and they haven't brought the app out for windows mobile.

But from what you said and what I read it's basically a gallery, tips & trick and a news-paper... I don't see why I should want to have that on my phone and I'm not the only one.

Indeed. Another flagrant and shameless act of anti-competitive practice.

In PCs they can do pretty much what they want since their market power is insignificant due to the measly market share.

However the iPhone is different; once the relevant anti-monopoly authorities get their heads around an appropriate market segmentation definition (hint: try handheld gaming device) Apple are going to come a cropper. And rightly so.

What's wrong with having instant access to tips and tricks ?

What's wrong with having a glossary of terms available ?

Nikon thought this would be a GOOD IDEA and decided to go with Apple for this .

What's wrong with Pentax coming up with something along these lines ?

or is it a case of you think everything should be for Windows ?

The ping test is a measure of the time it takes to send and receive back a small packet of information to a server.

My ping speed here is generally about 26ms.

If you want to test your owm broadband speeds then www.pingtest.net gives you some new information and www.speedtest.net gives you the standard speed information.

It's interesting but addicitive as the temptation is to keep on checking....
Best regards, John

Kids here buy Blackberry phones (or get their parents to buy them :roll as pinging is cheaper than texting.

At least that what my paper said today.

Not having a smart phone of any sort I couldn't say how good it is. My mobile can phone, and text, and has Bluetooth for the handsfree in the Prius. Sum total of it's smartness (and mine).

True John, but that's not what I meant.
Garth explained it in his previous post.

Gareth - I've an App for that too - yup on my Touch I can run a speed test .

As for the other sort of pinging - nah my phone's not clever enough for that - I can send text messages [ and I do ] and phone folk [ and occasionally do ] It does have blue tooth but its not an expensive enough one to be paired to my Freelander so it can ring to it's heart's content when I'm driving - I'll not answer it

OK - now let's get this back on the original scheme of things .

We have now agreed there's a lot of stuff out there - yes ?

I've pointed out that Nikon is putting stuff on the Apps store

I also know that other firms are looking at producing things .

Apps are starting / have started for the iPad

NOW - is Pentax doing anything ? It doesn't attend trade shows , Ads are few and far between ,and not the most eye catching.

Does it do any sponsorship ? I've not seen any .
