In todays "I want it now" society, I don't think Pentax should rely too much on brand loyalty if they want sales to increase, you have to give people what they are asking for.

They should at least be making the 'right noises'
Wouldn't it be great to find out what was really going on at Pentax Ricoh HQ? Are they being tight lipped because they have something exciting in development, or is there really nothing going on apart from a new Q lens or two? I can't believe that all the efforts of these two great companies combined is going into a telephoto kit zoom for the Q

TBH I think I understand what they are saying, yes they may have had access to Pentax for a few months before the actual handover (last August ?) however to design, produce and launch replacements to the K5, Kr and 645D (to say nothing of integrating non-competing lines with Ricoh development) in say 18 months after they take over is going to demand a helluva lot of work. And of course there's that FF Pentax K1 to take the world by storm *whistles*.
The Q is obviously something Pentax were working on before Ricoh came along and Ricoh decided to continue with it's implementation. Can't fault that if there is a market for it. It's a new product and you do need to support it.
The interview with the Pentax USA guy was possibly much more revealing than he may have intended; further K mount development and long lenses seem to be what he was intimating. Or what I read into his comments

The interviewer asked about if there is any development of new lenses in K-mount. The PR head answered that they would concentrate on the development of new lenses for the Q system first as it is easier to make compacter lenses with the smaller sensor size of the system and that a pocketable zoom can be materialised as such. In 2012, they would develop new telephoto lens for the Q.
The interviewer chased the Pentax head that many Pentax users did want much for new K-mount lenses. The head then answered that the development would be continued, mainly focused on the minimisation of lenses and new types of optics would be developed. But they would need more time as more resources were required since it was more difficult. He further asked the users to be patient and wait for longer.

Here is the google translation of the section specific to the K lenses:
- "The expansion would also have been desirable for the K-mount lenses, plans for the future? "Of course, we have planned as well as lenses of K Q. However, to some extent as a system, the lens is aligned so necessary, and Q is mounted at a different point value. Because it allows the system prior to go out and cut a different lens. for K mount lens goes out of character. it takes time to develop than absolute refinement of an existing lens, can not say that is rapidly turning Ikima is not, since we are challenging the new type of lens, please wait a little "
I THINK what is being said is that the K lens line up is pretty established and not in need of anything radical so its taking a back seat to Q lens development and K owners need to be patient".
Just as well we are all content with our present kit. Sounds like good news for Q owners though.
Best regards
