Buy both and sell the 1.7X

IQ wise there is very little in it but you do gain proper AF and you don't have to input focal length for SR.

Chris, I don't suppose you know the year of manufacture for your 50-135mm lenses?

Just after reading some of the other threads on here, thought it'd be worth asking
I'm not sure, but my latest stocks of the 50-135mm came in on Tuesday, so I can only assume the build date is very recent. We sell a lot of lenses, so our stock is never on the shelf for long...
Quick response there thanks, order placed thank you

Mike, the Pentax wont work with Sigmas HSM? is this true...
I have the 70-200 F2.8 and it seems to work OK with the Tamron 1.4x Converter, I was contemplating upgrading to the Pentax for the focal length reporting on my Pentax lenses but now I'm not so sure...

Andy,
This is from a review over on the other Pentax forum DA 1.4x AW converter review

Autofocus works with Sigma HSM lenses, however, unreliable performance has been reported by our users with certain lenses. The only lens we had at our disposal was unfortunately the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC HSM "Art", which count not lock focus with the teleconverter. According to user reports, Sigma firmware updates may be required for proper AF performance.

That just about sums it up ... my 70-200mm OS will not lock focus with the teleconverter attached. Can't see Sigma bothering with a firmware update tbh as they would rather discontinue their own teleconverters for Pentax than release new ones but stranger things have happened.

Works extremely well with the Sigma 100-300mm f4 though.

Events today conspired me to purchase a replacement for my D-FA 100

Is the new WR better built that the original as it snapped too easily today. Replacement depends on what JPSS or G&H say...

Much better; more like a Limited.
