Inspiration?

Open your eyes and open your mind. There are billions of images right in front of your lens trying to get in. You don't have to go anywhere in particular to find THE one and if you look closely you don't have far to go at all. Just look with your "eye" and then press the camera's shutter release... Voila
Maybe this will help.

Dreka, yes I have the same. I can go for a long time not photographing anything, not even the usual suspects - the dogs, the grandson or the local woods. I get fed up with those but lack the inspiration to go out and photograph anything else.
I am taking a course and the moment to force myself to get out and take photos, and to try and develop my own style (that bit is not working yet ). After this course I'm hoping to do a "foto atelier" which is based on a theme and so forces me again to look at things in a new light.
Maybe you have a club in your area you could join, or see if the Volksuniversiteit or a local cultural centre offers something similar that will make you get out and look at things in a new way.
Good luck!

Get a dictionary, open it up to a page at random and stick a pin in it. The word you select is the title of your next photograph - think of it as a personal one (wo)man competition, albeit one with no reward apart from self satisfaction.
I've done this a few times, only about 50% of the time do I end up with what I set out to capture but at least I've captured something...

Thanks so far!
I have a list of ideas for myself and the assignments photo schools give their students is another source for ideas. The trick with the dictionary is a nice one, it gives you a starting point for your creativity.
What are other ideas to get rid of that 'photographers block' you are using?

The photograph isolates and perpetuates a moment of time: an important and revealing moment, or an unimportant and meaningless one, depending upon the photographer's understanding of his subject and mastery of his process. -Edward Weston

Please don't say things like that! I am trying to avoid it. However, if you do find it works for you, I may be able to help as I have to thin some of mine.

Hi Drerka
I am still quite new to photography and maybe that works in my favour for inspiration.
I just look at everything and think either "how could I capture that and do it justice" or "that looks interesting / pretty/ inspiring etc" I'll come back with my camera take a picture"
For instance I was driving to work today and the sun was rising up over fog filled fields and I thought that would make a nice picture, I'll come back sat/sun morning with my camera.
Regards
PaulM

All cameras are equal but.....
Some are more equal than others

I guess you are all familiar with writers block: the urge to create, but not knowing what to create. I sometimes have a similar feeling with respect to photography. What to photograph? Where to go?
Do you recognize this feeling and if so, how do you make sure you have fresh inspiration for your photography?
Looking forward to your replies!
