Works a treat. I'd crop the top to take away the out of focus lily pads but as I say , works a treat.

I too like everything but the top RH corner. The red/pink lily pads draw the eye up and out of the corner, and being bigger than those at the bottom add a curious 'reverse perspective' feel to the picture (were they closer and you've flipped the picture?). Not sure whether cropping to remove them would work for the rest of it, might be worth a try.
Monet had it easy - he could leave out anything that got in the way!

For me it's a shame the lily pads/leaves are in the shot, as my brain is struggling to resolve which way is up.

Yes, I think this great well-seen image is made even better by cropping off the top pink leaves.

Thanks for the comments - I tried numerous crops and I think the suggestion to take out the top pink leaves may be the best presentation. It was originally the other way up but my initial preference was to flip it.

The original for me, too. That's the way Monet would have done it!
(All the cues for perspective seem to work properly that way, too).

Very well seen John... yes, I rather like the original too... partly because of the repeating clumps of lilly pads, partly to my eye because they help to draw the eye up through the frame, and partly because I rather like a bit of imperfection (nature’s full of it)... but each to their own etc... very nice, and very well seen, however you choose to crop it...

Interesting to see the two inverted variations. On balance I'm preferring the crop, the top lily pads are too strong and draw my eyes away from the tree which is the part I'm really enjoying but, you do lose something with the crop. I've got a different idea, how about if the top lily pads were just darkened down a little with a local adjustment brush?
