Importing avi's into Premiere

The problem is probably that Adobe Premier does not have the required codec for the S4's avi files (I've never used it so feel free to correct me!)
AVI, like MPEG can cover a multitude of formats. The S4 uses MJPEG.
It should be fairly easy to find the required codecs on the net. Google "mjpeg codec adobe premier" for a start.

I have an Optio S4, I want to import the avi movie clips into Adobe Premiere, but it says that there is an error. I have a feeling that I don't have the right codecs or something. If it is this, then perhaps you could help me as to which codec I need?
Premiere, by default, opens avi files with ease...
