Image transfers

Lately I seem to be having a little difficulty transfering pictures off of my camera to my computer. For some reason the files that are transfered to my computer are read only files. This means I can't even rotate and resave them. The only way to get rid of it seems to be to take them into photoshop and resave them from there, but that is a huge hassle.

I typically use a card reader to transfer the images or just plug the camera in and copy and paste. I thought this might be my problem so I tried using the supplied software which I have updated to the latest version. Still no luck. It is not every photo that has this read only thing just a random few.

Hopefully someone can point me in a direction of where I am screwing up. I am kinda dissappointed that I can't figure this out on my own because I am pretty good with computers.

Thanks all,
Luke

To elaborate: In Windows Explorer right click on a problem file, go to Properties, and uncheck the Read Only box.

I've not had a need for it for a long time as explorer meets my needs but, I stil have CROA from http://davidcrowell.com/Croa/Default.aspx handy.

I've not had time to look at the details of his current project but this http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox/ looks interesting.

I had this same problem.
I take the SD card and put it into a cardreader. Transfer goes quicker and no problems with read only files and such.
Why go through the trouble with using the camera as a cardreader...

Mannesty that link hit it on the money. Was a windows thing and has nothing to do with unchecking the read only box since it wasn't checked to begin with. The same problem happens weather I use the camera or a card reader. I like using the camera better because I am using an older card at the moment so it isn't a high speed one and the transfers are quicker from the camera rather than my card reader.
