I think that the update really only benefits the GRIII and K-3 III, presumably because they don't have GPS built in to the body.
I do like on the app that it says for details of the app refer to the website and then helpfully provides a link .... whichwhen you touch it leads to page not found.
I have noticed that on a few emails Ricoh have sent me lately advertising their products.

◆Location information sending
Enables you to send the location information on the mobile device to the camera to add the location information to the image. This can also be changed on and off from the camera. Location information is also sent even when the application is working as background. (Only with Android devices)
