Not sure about ImageRescue, but with Sandisk you get a similar utility called RescuePro, and that certainly finds stuff you probably thought was long gone. It is not infallible though.

I don't know about ImageRescue, but similar programs will pull an amazing amount of stuff off a card, even if it has been formatted. It's a useful tip to format and try again if a rescue isn't working. This can do the trick and enable images to be restored.

The so-called formatting of cards is nothing more than changing 'flags' against the names of files in the directory which releases the memory space for writing over of more data and the files no longer appear in the thumbnails of folder contents. All the information is there for the taking unless you have recorded more images.
I think this shows that is good practice to cycle your storage media - to give you time to realise how important all those pictures were that you wiped.

Was sent an offer for a free download of ImageRescue 4 [ and also one for 30% off some Adobe Software too ]
Has anyone used ImageRescue ? Does it really do what it says on the can ? Any comments about it ?
