I know this compare tool - cannot find any Pentax DSLR with a CCD sensor - I have experience with Olympus E-1 with a Kodak CCD sensor and under normal daylight conditions it produces better images than any Olympus camera with CMOS camera that I have tried.

K10D and previous had CCD sensors, all subsequent models are CMOS. So the difference, if any, is becoming rather irrelevant in DSLRs as the quality of current cameras outstrips the earlier models regardless.

Yet how can we explain that some photographers say that they prefer the IQ of CCD sensors?

I haven't noticed any significant difference, so we'll have to let those who think there is explain!
Best regards, John

If you click on 'All', it will display all Pentax cameras from the istD onwards!I know this compare tool - cannot find any Pentax DSLR with a CCD sensor - I have experience with Olympus E-1 with a Kodak CCD sensor and under normal daylight conditions it produces better images than any Olympus camera with CMOS camera that I have tried.
Personally I think if there's a difference, it's very subtle and can be made up for in PP/in-camera settings. And vastly outweighed by the benefits of the newest sensors.
