Well it's been a long time in the planning and not really what I had in my minds eye but it's a start and I will be doing this one again but with a better MUA I may even do it my self as I know what I want it to look like.

I played around with a smoke machine and some coloured light gels their is no play on white balance this is as shot

I would like your C&C on this and how to improve the flash gel technique

but all said and done I like this shot (ice maiden)

Well it works for me James, I like the use of colour and the lighting. The only thing I struggle with is the position of the flower, I am not quite sure how else you would have managed the pose but it keeps pulling my eye away from the model. Having said that, it is far better than anything I've taken.

Indeed stunning photo, i've no problem with the flower though but maybe you could make it feel more icy with some photoshop help?
Was the yellow in the shot intentional or not?

Can't help you with the colour gells though, don't know what you're trying to archive with it and i'm sure you're more handy then me when it comes too it

Excellent shot James, the colours look great to me, don't think you need any advice on gels! I agree with Stefan about the yellow, it's hard to tell if it belongs there or not, however it's a very minor point the image is still very good.

yes the yellow was intentional but I now feel it cancelled the blue out on the left of the image

James i photoshopped your photo a bit, changed colour and brightness quite dramatically.

If it's alright i could post my vision off your photos for you, it's probably not what you had i mind but it might give you ideas on what not to do

About the rose, i made it more natural although with lighter colours then in real life. i found that quite fitting but it was with my conversion though

Don't know if it's a good idea but at least it's a different view.

It's only a quick photoshop though, although it still consist out of 10 layers...

Thank you Gareth, like i said it's just quicky.

I don't think the darker background would work with everything else brightened up but was thinking of reducing the halo but actually quite like that effect so i didn't.
I was thinking of adding some icy mist and maybe (very maybe) an orb of two to make it more fantasy.
You could probably make an icing effect for the flower in photoshop, would be interesting to try that out.
Maybe something for the weekend.

I did spray the rose with white hair colouring as I didn't know what time the model was arriving and this was the last face painting of the day.

and buy snow in a can so I might whiten the snow and the rose instead of leaving it blue-ish but i agree with gareth the face looked better slightly lighter.
