Ice-llmeer

A couple of photos of the ice creeping up the dike on the Ijsselmeer on Sunday.
Taken with K20D and 50-135*.
It was too cold and slippery to hang around too long taking photos, or get in really close. So with husband moaning at me because we had to be somewhere at a set time I grabbed a couple of shots. SR was handy because I was shivering - I had the wrong coat with me for standing on windy dikes in icy winds.

I might try and head back there again this week for another go. Maybe with my 60-250 if I ever get my hands on it.

Lovely shots - I especially like the second one with all that jagged ice! I wonder if an even tighter crop might work too??

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Agreed. The ice looks great, particularly in the second one with the jagged edges. Very artistic. The pictures really sum up the freezing North Sea coast climate.
I'm trying to get my head round the concept of windy dykes.

Thanks for the comments.

David that's what you get from too many beans in a pot (a totally un PC Anglo-Dutch comment :wink.

I have just collected my new second-hand 60-250, so I am hoping if the weather isn't too horrible tomorrow to go back and try for some more shots, and a chance to play with the new lens.
