Lovely bird, lovely photo. Almost as if it was posing just for you .
Knowing nothing about kookaburras myself, are they tricky things to photograph that disappear at the slightest hint of a human or are they like robins in my part of the world, quite happy to get close to a human on the grounds that where there's a human there might be food?

The kookaburra is of the kingfisher family about crow size, it will sit waiting , watching the ground below for a tasty morsel , maybe a small snake, lizard or insect , they will then fly back up and proced to whack the life out of the thing before swallowing. They have been know to steal a sausage from the barbie or even raid other birds nests.
