Thankyou one and all..
I've been grumpy, gassy and playful with my.. wallies???? (I assume that's one of the buttons on the back of the camera) for years now, but it's darned nice to be legally able to do these things with nerry a hid turn now..
I support Gwyn though.. although I haven't mastered the art of the covering cough yet..
Also..
I knew all that when I was 17.. as did we all..
You may have guessed, I had a few lined up for me.. back to delinquent sobriety tomorrow.. with piccys.
Cheers

Dude, there's Years Old and then there's Mileage Old....
...ask anybody who's ever bought a used car which is Worse!
Now me, having had so many injuries over the years, you'd be amazed I can still walk upright. I can't remember what it was like to wake up in the morning, and not feel pain. I can't remember what it was like to feel normal, and will probably never have a day without my constant companion.
Does that sound like a complaint? Hell no! Happy to still be here, and don't mind a few reminders, that I earned it!
(whomever coined the phraise "That which doesn't kill you, makes you stronger" in my opinion is an idiot....turth is that which doesn't kill you...usually leaves you hurting and bleeding....It's your Faith, and your will to survive that makes you stronger.
Live it. love it!....hope for forty more...

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Liam, you're a puppy! You've got a great attitude and sense of fun - Bravo
George, yep, the student is older than the teacher! Still my guru :
Don, couldn't agree more regarding miles vs calendar. Problem is, I got both (think used taxi or cop car in my case)
Mr. Pearson? Are you and I the senior members of a UK-based forum?
Why, I'm not OLD! I'm ... uh ...
My thought for today - many of us are looking more and more to autofocus lenses and gear as our eyesight belies our years.
How come the folk who can afford the latest stuff (cell phones, P&S micro cameras, Blackberries etc.) can't see well enough to operate them?
Point to illustrate - my brother-in-law bites his fingernails. He HAS no fingernails. I watched him trying to navigate through our Optio digital using his fingertips and holding the device at arm's length. Painfull. (And he's younger than I ... and wealthier!)
Obviously the only solution is nice big DSLR's! (Marketing - take note. Aim at codgers!)
Great day to all!

Mac,
I guess we are - unless there is someone else lurking in the weeds - by the way it's Mike.
Funny, I bought my first autofocus Pentax about 9 years ago because of focusing problems and I thought it was my eyes. Turns out later that it was the camera and not the eyes - but a great way to upgrade.

Sorry gentlemen, I am in my 67th year So as an occassional poster I would like to claim the record as being the eldest. My great difficulty is not my eyes but keeping a steady hand Later on this evening I shall be going to Mars

We haven't heard from Peter Elgar yet!
But let's say mature, rather than old. "Mature photographers" are those who bought a Spotmatic when they were current.

Howard,
No problems with you assuming the title "most mature forum member" - I take it by "going to Mars" you mean astronomy or am I missing something?
George,
Guilty as charged - I bought my first Pentax, a SP500 in '71.

Hi George,
I met Peter on the Southerner's beano, and I think he'd be mighty offended at the assertion that he's 67+..
BTW, that doesn't mean that I don't think that 67 is a perfectly lovely age Howard..
Cheers

I dare say nobody noticed, but I've been away for a few days.. I was 40 yesterday, so we spent a few days in Wales. I have a piccy or two for sometime tomorrow.. and 'cos I'm old and infirm now, you have to be especially nice..
Now to go and get a beer or three inside me.
Cheers
