this may be basic to most of you but it is new to me so i hope you can help .what do i need to mount an af-360fgz to a tripod to make it remote from the camera(k7) to use in wireless mode. also is there a transmitter/receiver that can be used to do this transmmitting all required info from camera or is it a case of using the on board flash as control as per operating manual.

You will need an adapter such as this - make sure there are no electrical connections when you put it in, might need some insulating tape.

Your K7 will trigger the flash using its pop-up flash (as a remote control, not to illuminate the subject, unless you choose that mode) - its all in the manual, I know I managed to get my AF-360fgz to Remote-Trigger within about 10 minutes of buying the thing, just follow the instructions, its all very clever what it does for you!

The only complicated bit is making sure the flash and the camera are on the same control channel, but you only ever need to do that once.
Still shooting in the dark (literally and metaphorically)...

Flashes often come with their own plastic stand for off camera use. These often have a threaded base for mounting on a tripod. (like this cheeeeeeap one)

Also remember the flash body needs to "see" the flashes from the camera to work so the body needs to point at the camera. (swivelled).
Lurking is shirking.!

The wireless cactus V4 triggers have a tripod hole in the trigger I believe that you can mount on a tripod.
Probably some other triggers have it as well.

thanks everybody, will have a play today. still cannot find transmitter/reciever that will transmit ttl info, surely in this high tech world there must be something somewhere compatible with Pentax. had a look at cactus Stefan but that does not do it, any more suggestions, perhaps there is not, perhaps another item Pentax could make for the next model(and backward compatible) along with a moveable viewing screen

There is non for Pentax that will do that and you need P-TTL not TTL with the digital cameras.

If you want to use P-TTL the only option is to use the build-in flash, flash on the camera or using a wire, there simply are no wireless P-TTL triggers.
Non of the camera brands make triggers, so don't expect Pentax to make one.

Besides with off board the situation can get so complicated that's it's the best to use the camera and the flash in manual mode or else you've no idea what's going on with your lighting setup.
