how to: hotshoe adaptor

here's how I get my elinchrom skyports to play nice with my portable flash units.....
needed on $15.00 pc to hotshoe adaptor. one $3.00 mono headphone jack.
cut off pc socket, solder on headphone jack.
done.

I have asked exactly the same question the other day in a shop.
They sell a Hotshoe trigger (not infrared or wireless) that connects directly to bowens lighting (or any other lighting with the same socket). I believe there's no need to 'cut and paste' any jacks!

I'll look for the exact product, cause I can't remember the name, but it was £30.

To use the 540 I have noticed it only have the 5 pin outlet - not a normal PC outlet or similar. So the only way (I guess) is to place it on a hotshoe with the cable attached as Dons.
