In my opinion i think yes you are cropping to tightly. It took my eyes a little time to focus on each pic.
Closer isn't always better
But i do like the last 2 shots very sharp with good detail.
Recrop the second last one and repost it, i would like to have another look at it.

I think it is too tight as well.
Getting close is not the issue anymore. Getting the right composition AND getting close AND getting the image sharp is a completely other thing.
You are very capable of producing some stunning close and sharp images. Now you need to work on the composition including all these bugs..

I back them up onto a couple of HD drives. You live and learn i guess.

Teleconverter not used in macro mode, just for extra reach.
Wondering if I am cropping too tightly though?
