Dwight D Eisenhower
Comment Image

Two historic British class A4 steam locos have returned from North America after 40 years absence to take part in a historic line up of all six surviving members of the class next year.
No 60008 Dwight D Eisenhower has been shipped from the USA and 60010 Dominion of Canada from Canada and arrived at Shildon in Co Durham at the weekend after a massive transportation operation.
They crossed the Pennines on low loaders from Liverpool Docks to Co Durham, passing Stainmore Summit on the A66 on the way.
These images are my record of the final stages of the journey.

What a super set of record shots. Thanks for sharing David, and for the additional info
I thought the chains in #1 were to stop anyone stealing it for scrap

Dwight D Eisenhower seems to be in a lot better condition than Dominion of Canada.

Some heavy metal there

Nice to know that these old beasties are back
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.
