And they really need to update those guns, a bank of missile launchers should sort it.
Nice photo.
I am ashamed to say that i live not that far from the Historic Dockyard yet have not visited since i was 15 (1985). Would mind seeing the newly revamped Mary Rose exhibition.

Good colours, but I think you should have stepped back a bit or used a wider lens to get all of the left side in and not cut the walkway off.

My comments and feedback which I hope are taken as constructive.
OK first the not so good
Personally, I think the image is to tight within the frame
The foreground looks cluttered and detracts from the main subject
Which part of the image draws my eye and where does it take me in relation to the rest of the image?
What improvements could you make to this image if you were to photograph it again?
The potential good. lots to photograph and create more interest
Focusing on one specific aspect of this ship
Shooting from a lower perspective, angle,
What are you trying to convey with this image?

As a record/humorous shot of a ship in refit it's quite good. I'd have preferred the whole of the bow sprit (top left) to be included and it is too tight in the frame. The foreground clutter is distracting but without a much wider lens there may not have been too much you could have done about it (except a different angle perhaps).
The problem is that the ship is the wrong shape for the frame, trying to fit it all in introduces distractions around it (unless bokeh'd out). I'd consider a much tighter crop just surrounding the hull/superstructure and perhaps the bottoms of the masts?
EDIT - Without knowing the gear used (or available) or that there was a brick wall behind the photographer, makes it easy to suggest you should have taken a few steps back etc...
John.

Apart from the tightness of the bow at the top left, it is quite a good shot of the ship in refit. Lightening the shadow areas reveals several cannons around the ship - perhaps if those in the foreground had been included (if that had been possible), rather than being partly cut off in the framing of the shot and hiding them in darkness, they would have added relevant foreground interest, making the other refit clutter less of a distraction.

Lens used was the 18-55 WR set at 18mm. Couldn't step back any further as there is a canopied area which would get in the every possible way. Apart from that, I wanted to try and get the whole vessel in and the area is very tight, and also the Radar mountings().

You should, it's a bit low light in there but they have a skeletal dog and jurkins what the men wore. They have also reconstructed what the captain and some of the crew may have looked like.

I'll make a concerted effort to get down there. Did they say how long the refit was going to take? Be nice to go when the Victory is free of all the clutter.

I could be wrong, bit I think I have seen somewhere that the figure 10 comes in to it, can't remember if it is 10 years or £10 million.

Seeing as how the powers that be have decided to cut back on the armed forces but send them to new conflicts, HMS Victory is get a new Radar system judging by the top of the masts.
