Welcome Chris,
I've had my KR since May after a KX.
Get out and enjoy your new camera. No substitute for using it and then using it again.
You don't say what experience you have with cameras but you'll find plenty of help on here. The camera comes into its own when you start to tweak exposure and focus controls for short or long lenses and the subjct matter. I particularly like the cameras ability without flash in low light and its fast for its class frame rate when there is some action that you might otherwise miss.
Personally I enjoy going to members details and viewing their porfolios and some of them have superb web sites to show the full potential of owning a Pentax. It certainly gives you a standard to strive for.

Welcome to the forum! The K-r is a fantastic bit of kit. Looking forward to see what you can do with it. Best tip I can give is to just keep on using it. Some have suggestions of using it in all manual mode for a week or two.
