For the first I would lose the birds on the left. If you crop hard to the group on the right, then the gull looking straight at you would "jump out" and I think give the picture a hook. I like 2, but would be inclined to kill the bird. 3 & 4 are too much like snaps for me, but the last really stands out. I think the bold composition (with fingers up to the rule of thirds!) works well. Maybe the red flare (?) could be toned-down by a mono conversion with a sepia-tint, which it almost is anyway.

Cheers

I think my favourite is the first, although I agree with Tony that you could probably crop from the left - worth a look at least. I've been doing a fair bit of high ISO/Big Aperture stuff recently (from necessity, the light has sometimes been terrible) and I have been impressed with the results at ISO1600 and f2.8 on the K-7, given a bit of NR in Adobe Camera Raw.

Nice set - looks like the weather is lovely!

They're very diverse so I've picked my top two to comment upon. I really like the look and feel of the first shot. I like the incoming top left but the half bird just below is I think less welcome.

I like the last one too. Lovely colours, whatever they are. There's something very in your face about it. My preference would be to crop square and lose the bird.

Agree with the Doctor on the last one there (seems to be a bird cull going on !)

Many thanks for the comments.

I took several shots of the last scene, specifically to get a gull through the "shine". I’ll re-edit for comparison.

Best regards
