Welcome to the forum
The K-m is an excellent choice, a very well built camera with great handling and an excellent output.
My advice would be the carefully read the manual and experiment with settings, perhaps play around with aperture and shutter priority modes and see how the different settings effect the image. I'm sure you will have many questions that user members will more than happy to answer. Have fun

Welcome to the forum Les.
As Greytop says, the best way to learn is to play with the settings. Don't forget that the K-m has a 'help' button that some people find very useful when just starting.

Thanks for the warm welcome. One quick question. I Uploaded a photo to the Gallery. Should it display at once or is there a delay. I cant see it but dont want to do it again if it can take a little time to display

Many years ago I had a Praktica SLR and enjoyed using it. Then on to compact film camera from Pentax, Cannon compact digital, Sony compact digital and Samsung compact digital. My wife is also keen to learn so we though the K-m would be a good start in taking our photography more seriously. I am sure to have lots of questions and we are thinking of taking a beginners course at the local tech. Would welcome any suggestions re getting started with my new DSLR.
