Hi from West Yorkshire

Hello...

I 'lurk' here every so often, but mostly on pentaxforums
I'm a 31 year old English Lit student from Yorkshire... Skint.

Been shooting my K-x for nearly 2 years...

Recently started shooting with an ME(with 40mm f2. and an MG(with a m-50mm f1.7) using Illford 400 B&W... Quite good fun...

As well as the 2 kits (18-55 & 50-200) I have a small selection of M-lenses, a Pentax-F 35-70mm f3.5-4.5 and a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8...

Like many I struggle to manual focus on the K-x with a -5.5 prescription and would love some AF-Primes for my K-x...

I drool over the K5... No way I can afford one til after I graduate though... So I don't think about it...

Like playing with flash and triggers (not much in the way of results as yet), Climbing, reading and mountain biking...

Apart from the very personal stuff... you now have my life story

See you all soon...
Dave

Welcome. As a North Yorkshire-ite living in London I envy the landscapes you have on your doorstep. Yorkshire is a beautiful place. You'll find good advice and helpful people here (although you know that already).

Post some photos. We all love photos...
You will only prise my 43Ltd from my cold, dead hands...

Welcome to the family, as you probably know there are a few West Yorks members her, and having met a few I can say that we seem a friendly bunch.

As long as it's not our round!
Cheers, HG

Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...

Hi Dave, welcome.....from West Yorkshire (Menston if you know it - we have a very famous lunatic asylum).

A Yorkshire meet sounds like a great idea.

Hey all...
Cheers! Yeah Karl I know Menston... I was dragged up in Shipley

I posted earier on the 'meets' section about 'leeds exposure' wondering if any pentax users go regularly to their events... I've been to a couple but rarely see another pentax shooter...

Looking forward to their 'photocamp' at the begining of sept...

Dave I've just had a look at Leeds Exposure, it looks really interesting, I might be up for some of that.

I went to 'Photocamp' at the National Media Museum last year and it was a really good event... The saturday was talks in the morning and 'Delegate run workshops' in the afternoon... The sunday was a photowalk and 'studio play around' type event...
Whole thing worked a lot like a live internet forum (but with very little trolling)
Was the first time I'd ever seen a wireless trigger and umbrella set-up... Still don't have brollies (or stands) but have a set of triggers and another set on the way... (student loan just arrived..)

Hi WobblyGoblin.. Just posted my favourite (to date) in the Gallery section... It's a B&W called 'Yeadon Tarn' Its of boats...

London must be a good place to shoot on an evening though?! Countless cityscapes and street options...

Nice BW conversion that. What software package do you use?

Picasa... It's free google software...

I really struggle with post processing... Have copies of CS4, GIMP and Lightroom 3 but hate them all...
CS4 has far too much going on...
GIMP makes absolubtly no sense...
I love the editing in Lightroom3 (simple yet powerful) but everything else about it does my nut in! It kind of forces you to commit to it and do your workflow in a manner that it thinks is best...
Ideally I want Picasa to have the editing power of Lightroom3 but to still allow my to just use windows like I do for everything else...

It's for similar reasons that I won't buy an ipod... Can't get i-tunes to work for me... 'Windows-Music-open in windowsmediaplayer-bop around the room-sorted...
