Hi everyone,
Have just joined Pentax User and subscribed to the mag for a year while I'm at it.

Have been using Pentax DSLRs for a couple of years now but never had much of an online presence yet - which I'm trying to rectify right now!

I am currently in the processing of ebaying my K100D Super and some third party lenses in an attempt to partially fund my recently acquired K20D habit... I "need" new filters, batteries, lenses to go with it.

Will post again when I've thought of something useful to say!
Sean

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Still haven't thought of anything "useful" to say (other than Hello!) but have uploaded a photo to the gallery and posted a couple of comments in various areas of the forum.

Cheers!
Sean

Hi Sean

Welcome. I'm also quite new around here.

You've already mentioned something that interests me -seems you have experience with various third party lenses. This surely helps others to learn from your experiences with those lenses -especially those of us on tight budgets or with specific needs.

What sort of shots do you mostly take and are the lenses helping you?

I agree about the biting....I don't yet have any teeth marks from fellow forumites.

Have fun
Geoff

Hi Geoff,
Sorry for the delay in replying. The third party lens I have used most is a Sigma 70-300. I have used it quite a bit for motorsport photos and occasionally for wildlife (there's a couple of kingfishers I've seen nearby that I WILL get a decent photo of one day!).

I notice you have this lens too - do you use the 1.5x extension tube with it? If so, how do you find it?

Using the lens alone, I find that the images are OK in terms of sharpness etc. However, the front element rotates whilst focusing - I find this really annoying when using a polariser as you have to keep adjusting it with each attempt at focusing.

I have just ordered a Pentax 55-300 with the intention of putting my Pentax 50-200 and the Sigma 70-300 on eBay. Will post a comparison comment between the Sigma and Pentax when it arrives.
