Amazing. The first one seems to need a little contrast correction as viewed. last one seems best. Exif info always nice to see to learn from others. Thanks for sharing though.

What a lovely bird - and good shots.

British herons were designed by the Royal Navy - in Battleship Grey.

Very nice shots of a beautiful bird! Could I possibly ask what lens you used for these?

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Love the bird, love the shots, not at all sure about the PP - you seem to have lost so much detail from the feathers etc. and everything seems 'smoooooth'. Maybe the NR did this - which one did you use ?

No NR used on these, I was surprised at the smoothness as well.

Great photos Don. It's amazing how different the colours of the adult bird are from the juvenile. Here's a photo taken with a K5, Sigma 70-200 HSM2 and AF 1.7TC. F ratio in exif is reported wrong.Iso 6400 and lots of nr.

Nocturnal so harder to spot but right around Australia except dry inland west part of continent.. My photos were taken in a dark grove. The bird spotted a long necked turtle disturbing fish, and flew down for a quick snack. I didn't want to use a flash so the high iso.
