Stu, the shooting settings of the shot of the people in the woods - ISO 800, 1/13s, f/7.1 - suggest quite dim lighting so, as David has stated, some negative exposure compensation (at least a stop) would be required.

Also, 1/13s is rather slow for focal length 70mm so, even with SR, there could be some softening by camera movement.

It might also be worth setting up AF Fine Adjustment for that lens, to ensure that it is focusing accurately - it is in Custom Menu 4-26 (refer to pages 126-7 of the manual).

Cheers.

I know I am stupid but what difference would a grip make?
As for me, all I know is that I know nothing.

And because you are friendly thats why you are in exile

Only half Welsh, and very much a southerner I'm afraid, having been born and grown up in Middlesex, then lived in Oxfordshire. Been away a long time now, but still a southerner at heart. We aren't all unfriendly.

I work between Bracknell and Maidenhead, and have a K-5.

The fungi shot seems to be focussed on the edge of the main 'room.. could it be that your AF setting are off (AF-C and not AF-S) and the selector dial is on centre spot and not auto. I had a DL which was much simpler in the AF department, and compared to the *istD, K10d, 20D, k-5 there was less to go wrong.

Please don't stray into discussions about a particular country and its people, everyone is welcome on PU and it's not very constructive to perpetuate the myth of stereotypes of any kind.

Thanks.
Best regards, John
