Help! Lens repairer needed please...

Posted 23/10/2010 - 20:08 Link
Hi,

I have a Pentax SMC FA 50mm 1.4 lens that I use all the time for portraits. Recently it started jamming on the focus and there was a rattle when I shook it. I removed the back of it and a single ball bearing and a tiny screw fell out. I put it back together but it still sticks.

I really need to use it on the 6th Nov and so I would like to get it fixed before then, does anyone have any idea where I can send it? I would appreciate cheaper options if possible as I'm skint

Thanks.

Hi

I had the same problem with mine a couple of years back. I used these guys http://www.asahiphoto.co.uk/repairs.htm - they were the only ones I found.

They did a good job but it wasn't cheap compared to the value of the lens - if I remember correctly I think they charged £60

Good luck

Carl

Thanks, I'll give them a call unless someone has any other suggestions.

I used A.M. Technical services to unstick the diaghram blades on an old Kiron lens. Service was prompt & cost good, £30.00,inc.

I would use him again.

I used AM Technical to service three lenses at 30 quid each. Very good service. K.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.
