Hello, I am new to this forum and need some help.

I have been very luky today and purchased a Sigma 150-500mm 1:5-6.3 APO DG HSM Lens. I use a K10D, but for some reason this lens doesnt like to AF, and it has to be done manually.

According to the manual, there is no OS switch...........

Does this camera have a AF Motor for K10D?
Pentax K10D, 18-55mm, 70-300mm & 150-500mm, AF360 FGZ Flash Gun along with Seculine LED Level, Lowepro Pixel Pak

I believe you need to update your firmware to allow HSM use with the K10d. A k10d user will be along to confirm I'm sure.

As RR says I think you need firmware 1.30 to be able to AF with HSM lenses.

And just to show how helpful we are around here, here's a link where you can download the firmware (scroll down the page) CLICK HERE

Oh & OS stands for Optical Stabilisation (we Pentax users have sensor stabilisation so don't need it) hence the lack of switch.

P.S. Welcome to the forum.

Both of you are right, shreck25 click on the link to get your firmware, don't forget to use a full battery before starting to load the firmware in the camera.

Sorry Tel.

On a side note... the UK Pentax site doesn't have the 1.03 firmware for the K20d listed. The discrepancies between all the individual country Pentax sites is shocking. It all seems a bit amateur to be honest.

I wonder how many more sales would be generated by a slick looking & easy to navigate website ? A fair few I would imagine.

Shreck25 wanted it for a K10D not a K20D

You think the Pentax site is bad?

Try navigatin the canon or nikon ones!

They make the Pentax one look good.

Oh yes! Welcome to the forum shrek25.

They may even get a few enquiries for the new K-7.
If they bothered to put it on the web site.

To be honest I don't really like the UK site either, I mostly go to www.pentaximaging.com the USA site, it looks better and is still easy to navigate.
It shouldn't be that hard right, to adapt that one for the UK
