Just want to say hi to everyone and a quick intro of myself!

I've been a long time Pentax user and have been lurking around the forum for a while. I started photography as a hobby in the 90s using manual bodies such as the Program A, P30T and MZ-M. The main reason for choosing Pentax at the time was the price, availability and the huge selection of K mount lenses on the used market, with the added bonus of having probably the best backward compatibility on any system in the past several decades! I skipped pretty much the whole of the SF and Z series bodies and moved on to the MZ-3/5n bodies as I found the MZ series so simple and direct to use. For a couple of years, I wasn't feeling too inspired and didn't take many photographs so I got rid of all of my gear except the MZ-5n and the FA28-70/4. I still shot from time to time during this period and that combo had always produced good results.

Fast forward to around 2005 where (IMO) consumer digital photography became relatively affordable and the technology had started to mature, I bit the bullet and bought my second digital camera - The *ist DS. My first digital camera was actually a Ricoh RDC-300 back in 1997 with a massive 0.35 megapixel! I was really excited by the idea of digital photography and its technology but the DR and IQ were so terrible comparing to film, I ditched it after just a few weeks.... Anyway, The DS had brought back my passion for photography and I've had a lot of fun with it for the next couple of years.

Then came the K10D after the DS which I felt was a big step up from the *ist series and I have thoroughly enjoyed using it. I am especially fond of the K10D as it was used to take the trillions of pictures of our new born child at the time (I did a "365 Project" in which I had to take a picture of her everyday until she was one. It was great fun and we got some lovely results). I found the K10D to be a very competent camera (love the way the Sony 10MP CCD renders pictures) and did not feel compelled to upgrade at all, until the K-5 came along.

So back to the present, I am happily shooting with a K-5 (Amazing high ISO and great movie quality) and I started shooting films again. The bug has bitten really hard this time and I just can't stop shooting and buying gear!

So, turns out it wasn't a quick intro afterall!
Hope I didn't bore you too much and nice to meet you all

Regards,
D
