Hi!

I have joined the american forum by accident, even though I meant to join this one, so I will just copy what I wrote there

'I suppose I'm a prospective Pentaxian, I finally chose my first DSLR to be the K-3. I was deciding between Nikon D7100 and the K-3 but after holding both of the cameras in my hands yesterday, the K-3 just felt better. I also like the weather sealing, especially when it comes down to the protection from dust and sand, this will be extremely useful for me.

I have a lot to learn when it comes to photography, but I enjoy shooting street photography and people. I also like the occasional makro, but I almost never shoot sports. I move between UK and the Middle East and I'm always inpired when 'comparing' how people live in each country - I'd love to document the differences, if only for myself and my close ones. Which is what partly drove me to getting a DSLR, because the point and shoot is just not enough anymore.

I'll have many questions, sometimes silly, so bear with me.

Welcome to this friendly and helpful forum, from an old geezer who has lived in South Cambs for almost half his lifetime! Like you, I found that I preferred the Pentax to the better known makes - in my case I chose a K-x because it is fairly small, and I already had a few Pentax-fit lenses from my earlier days with a Spotmatic.

I am sure that you will find this forum as interesting and instructive as I have done.

Don't worry about seemingly daft questions - I've asked one or two of them and always received a helpful answer - and welcome to *this* forum.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Welcome to the forum, it's the daft answers you'll get that you have to worry about more than the questions.

John.
