Hello! Just signed up to this site to hopefully gather a bit more knowledge of photography in my local area. I currently own a K10 and have had it from new (late 2007) but to be honest it has been sat around just doing nothing Anyway the other week I decided I NEED to use it so off I went and decided i'd buy a tripod and see what pictures I can take with a 50mm f/1.7 lens (I know it's more suited to portraits) on Salford Quays which is where I work. Here's a couple of shots that I took without any processing....

As I have been using the camera more and more I feel that it is landscapes, architecture and city scenes that seem to interest me more...Hopefully I will get the sigma 10-20 lens eventually. But for now my pentax 50mm and sigma 18-200 will have to do

Does anybody know of any clubs in the Bolton area that are worth going to? Mainly for tips and the inspiration of other photographs....

I hope to become an active member on this forum and in time give advice to other 'beginners' once I have got more knowledge.

Some nice shots there Rob, refreshingly different ones of a very familiar place!

Why not come down to Atherton and see our club: www.adaps.org.uk and you will be sure of a warm welcome!
Best regards, John

Thanks for the welcome I work shifts so will be a couple of weeks until i'm next free on a Thursday night but I will sure make it down when I am next free.

John - Do you visit the quays often? I work in Customs House (next to Furness House) but have rarely ventured much further than the Lowry!

Stub - Sure will do when i'm free on a Thursday night

Andrew - Thankyou for the comment. I'm actually quite plesantly suprised how well these images turned out from the 50mm lens. I did take a few more but I thought these 2 were my best 2 of the night.

Ahh but if it was in colour you would be able to read 'Manchester United' lol I was just having a mess about in PS elements on the 1st day I got it with that pic.
