I've come back to photography after an interval spanning all of the multi mode, auto focus and auto winding film camera years. I consider myself fortunate to be living adjacent to one of the open spaces managed by the City of London. When the City Commons set up a volunteer group to assist them after they acquired the site, I joined and my involvement rekindled my interest in nature photography.
As the owner of an LX and several M series lenses it seemed sensible to stay with Pentax. The acquisition of a 2nd hand 1st D in an eBay auction enabled me to dip my toe in the digital photography pond without too much expenditure and when the cash back offer appeared on the k20D the temptation was too great to resist. The brightness of the 1st D focusing screen was a revelation. I thought "I don't need auto focus and I wont miss the split image focusing aid either".
Looking forward to taking an active role in the forum from now on. My interest is leaning towards high magnification photography and making my own equipment for this purpose. Good one for the winter months.
As I have never taken part in any kind of forum before I'll probably commit all kinds of errors of etiquette but please be gentle with me!
Richard
