so, not exactly just joined...but returned. It's been about 7 months, and since that time I lost my trusty K7 in a unfortunate skiing accident a couple months ago. So after a decent mourning period...(aka getting up funds for a new Pentax)....I bought the K-r and so far very pleased with it. Now, just looking forward to this awesome forum again.
Pentax K-5, Tamron 17-50, Tamron 70-300, Metz 50 AF-1 flash, and working on buying more lenses in the future. It never ends.

Not good about the K-7, and I'm sure there are people who would be interested to read your thoughts on how the K-r compares with it too.

Thanks! yeah, well the K7 obviously is a better built camera, quiet shutter noise comparatively, slightly bigger. Weather sealed...basically a very LUXURY type camera IMO. I loved it. But soul searching as I was considering a replacement, I decided the K-R was plenty good enough for me. I felt like I was lucky enough to have a "Mercedes" but nothing wrong with a nice "Ford".

Good to see you back.

I used to have a K-7 and upgraded to the K-5 which unfortunately was an early one with sensor staining. Due to shortage of stock I had to wait a while for a replacement but had the use of a K-r for a few weeks. Nice camera and I liked it but did find the singe control wheel took a bit of getting used to. Apart from that it is a little difficult to justify paying double for a K-5. I am sure you will be very happy with the K-r.

Glad you are back.

Sorry about the K-7 - I trust that was all that got broken in the skiing accident and you were OK?

I'm sure you will enjoy your K-r just as much. Fords are good too .
