Finally got around to playing with some old m42 lenses my dad in law gave me and I am thrilled with what some of these little things can do.
Took the Helios to the garden today. Below are some snap shots - jpgs, no pp other than some noise reduction as I had mine turned off in the camera.
Think I have a new favourite lens!
Only issue is the aperture ring on my copy is very 'loose' - super easy to accidentally change the setting :S

I have two of those lenses on two Russian 'Zeniths' -- made in different factories in the Soviet Union by hard-working underpaid Comrades and found they were good lenses on film and digital.
Been a member of Pentax Club since the Ron Spillman era! Got COMPUTERISED at last - DIGITISED?
Taken the PLUNGE - BUT FILM STILL RULES !!!

Beautiful lenses but a bit prone to go stiff if the grease dries out. Dissassembly is relatively simple if you want to tighten up the bits and pieces. You start by grabbing the front end and the back end and twisting the whole lot (hard) so both halves come apart ! Lots of examples on the internet.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
