Thought I would have a go at something different as a practice exercise really, and managed to borrow my sons guitar for a while.

Here is the result, taken using light through the window only, Tammy 70-300
(macro setting). c+c welcome.

Nice shot with good detail, I like the black background as this makes the head standout better..

Nice colour and tone. I agree with the need to trim the strings though. And i'd like to see a slightly wider crop. Your lighting and processing is spot on though.

And maybe get the duster out ?

The strings are left long so you can stick your
ciggy or chewy on em when your singing

Don`t know why he leaves the strings long, shim is probably right about the ciggy and gum trick. (think it was the Rolling Stones I first saw doing that), and Galoot your right also, should have give it a bit of spit and polish first,well spotted. Tbh though didn't think the Tamron would have picked it up.

In the old days when the bill payer smoked he just stuck his fag in between the string and the head stock. He always trims his strings, having seen what happens when someone gets a string end in the eye - not a pretty sight. The only time a string isn't instantly trimmed is if he has to change a string mid gig, but it is trimmed thereafter.
Nowadays, having expensive guitars, which, unlike the Stones et al, he has to pay for he wouldn't allow a cigarette within 10 metres of one!

ABeen through that stage with him, he`s 18 now and not a bad guitarist, its just the stuff he plays Death Metal or something like that, drives me nuts (now where's that Mr Sheen)
