Some lovely shots here. I hesitated before looking as I loathe HDR but, like most techniques, used sensitively and with discretion, it's a valuable tool. Used to full effect it's a visual bilious attack.

Not sure if this qualifies. I processed two RAW versions one for highlights and one to bring out shadow details then merged them in Elements.

That is beautifully done Stephen. You wouldn't know it was HDR except that the exposure is so well balanced. Love the DoF, isolates that one bit but you can see enough of the background to know what's going on. Superb.

It looks a little dark in the shadows on the home PC. Looked fine at work. Must calibrate the monitors.

I love the shots posted by Russ and Stephen here, they are my ideal of what HDR should look like. Both beautifully composed too.

I've not done much in the way of HDR and barely used Photomatix Essentials yet but here's an attempt this morning on my walk to work through Winnall Moors. Without HDR it would have been nigh impossible to balance up the sky with the foreground. There's a lot of presets in Photomatix, some i really do not like, some that do very little and others that are more balanced. I chose a balanced one and then tweaked a little. The image is straight from the camera, haven't got round to deciding if some of the sky or busy foreground needs chopping.
