having a go with the 55-300

Some quickies with the 55-300. My own opinion, it's a good lens, only down side is that it's too slow for my style.

Looks like it works well on portraits!

Optically it's a very good lens Don. I'm just too used to 70-200mm with internal focus. The 300mm end has to be a bonus for bird shots at close range.

AF is slower than my Sigma EX Mk1. I'll hang on to it for a while and give it another outing.

The last one is really good, the OOF areas look decidedly odd on the rest, especially the first one.

These are good portrait shots, especially the last one, however as you say this lens isn't in the same class as a 70-200 but it's probably the best in it's class for what it is, and for what it costs.
