Don't know if it would work better without the grass bank in the bottom right. It seems to be the first draw for the eye. Then you'r taken further in by the sweep of the beach

Its a nice picture but i see what you mean about a focal point - perhaps a couple walking on the beach would have added or something along those lines

bforbes - It is difficult to crop out the grass without losing too much of the image, or at least i couldnt find a satisfactory solution.

selectcase - Yes a woman in red perhaps. I should perhaps of reframed that shot when this woman turned up.

Thank you both for your comments.

I quite like this too, but it was taken on a Sigma f4 100-300 at f4.0 @ 320 hand held and is probably not sharp enough.

I like it as a pure landscape. The great sweep of the bay with the mountains in the distance are great, the sky is adding some but not enough.
Try cropping about half of the sky. I think you will find the wide sweep 'feel' is amplifyed.

Hope you don't mind, but like this:

But dont you think the edge of the beach looks better coming from the bottom left hand corner?

Ops! I think your right!

I think I cropped a bit of the bottom as well as the top by mistake.

Its amazing how just changing the shape of the picture, to suit the subject, can make such a difference. This would look good with a thick black border, to isolate it, and printed large!
