OK,
I see the very cool leather sacs from George's collection. - Drool...
I also see the 3/4 empty scotch bottle and the contributor to the title of this post.
Now, George, you already know you're my expert on lenses, bodies and so on - but I also love single malt! Oh, Boy do I!!.
ARE YOU TELLIN' ME SOMETHING HERE?
I haven't seen this particular label over here (Canada) but if you say this is up there with say, Glenfidich Solara, I'll sure go lookin'!

Mac,
Malt is a difficult subject, and I am no expert, so I shall quote Hugh Johnson:
"Most distinctive of all are the malts from the western islands Islay and Skye. They are known by the strong peaty smell and flavour which gives them a slightly medicinal character..............those who like them will drink nothing else."
I have an unopened bottle of Glenfiddich knocking around somewhere. I never have an unopened bottle of Bowmore. It's an acquired taste, but once acquired, nothing else will do. As you rightly surmised, it was the only thing I thought worthy of gracing a table alongside the Limited bags.
If you feel like experimenting, look out for the Islay malts. Laphroaig and Lagavulin are very well thought-of, but I prefer Bowmore. It tastes a bit like liquid smoke, so be warned.
My suggestion is this. Buy a bottle, and pour yourself a glass. If at first you don't like it, persevere. Buy six more bottles, and drink them over a prolonged period - say a week or ten days. At the end of that time, you'll either love it or hate it, and if the latter, nobody wil be able to say you didn't give it a fair chance.
Happy drinking.

Nice crystal looks just like the one I'm holding in the image on my site...I gotta get me hands on som-o-dat scotch too, now. And I'm sure you didn't mean to imply that one has to get drunk to like it...but a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do....I'll try it...even if I have to get drunk in the process.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

I'm also a fan of the Islay malts however my preferred option is Laphroaig.

I too love the malts from Islay - for me they are the most complex and characterful of all whiskies. My favourites are Laguvilin and Ardbegh. The finest malt I've ever savoured (and I've tried scores of them) is 25 yr-old double-distilled Laguvilin. Absolutely sublime. I reckon I must have spent more on malts over the years than George spent on those 3 lovely lenses. I wish I had the lenses though....

I'd like to submit a vote for Talisker from the Isles and Edradour from the highlands.
Oh, and Caol Ila and Highland Park.
Slainte Mhor!

Bowmore Legend is good - but the Bowmore Mariner 15yo is delicious.
Oh and try Ardbeg

I'm a bit late on this thread but ... Gordon & McPhaill have 'recently' released some new bottlings of unusual whiskies including Lochside (dist. now closed) at sensible prices - Murray rates it very highly - I have one to drink (not yet tried) and one for the "Pension Fund" - previous bottling was selling at 100GBP - new one is around 25GBP.

I guess I'm just a peon, but a tall glass of Guiness is plenty to make me happy. Especially since I have he 31mm and the 75mm lenses, too!
They both came with black cases, maybe the silver ones have the colorful cases. Whatever, the lenses are just great!

If anyone has some spare cash after a lens buying spree you could try this http://www.masterofmalt.co.uk/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=1410 One time they were selling a particularly rare vitage for £4,995 per bottle! (no i didn't buy a bottle either!)

So, here is wisdom distilled; a vision of happiness for some:
For the uninitiated, those snazzy leather bags are what Limited lenses come in.
