Guess the Weed (Macro)

Life has got in the way of photography for quite a while. However, today the withdrawal symptoms from macro photography finally overcame the pressure to do what needs doing and this evening I found a little weed in a flower pot and took its picture. Well, took a lot of pictures actually because the only way to treat the withdrawal symptoms was to create a focus stack. After a couple of hours of fiddling with the macro rig, taking 122 photos with the K3 + Laowa 25mm @ x2.5 and crunching them through Affinity Photo 2 on a hard working computer, the result emerged. And here it is. Not the best stack I've ever done, but more than adequate as treatment for the withdrawal symptoms .

So... can you guess what the weed is?

I wasn't going to post early, but if we're cheating, my search came up with smartweed aka knotweed

Just be glad it's not Japanese Knotweed, that's a nightmare.

Hairy cress? .......... You can eat it but it doesn't 'taste', one way or another.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Correct! Hairy bittercress in my book. How on earth did you get it????

For those who don't know, it's a small plant consisting of a rosette of leaves near the ground and bare, vertical stalks with tiny (few mm) white flowers at the top. After a flower has been fertilised, it grows a long, thin seed pod. When ripe, the seed pod bursts open, scattering miniscule seeds all over the place. The photo shows a seed pod growing from a fertilised flower. It's been growing steadily since the photo was taken.

They do serve to bulk up a salad bowl. You pull up the entire plant(s), snip off the root, wash it and chuck it (them) in whole. It's more texture than taste.

I'm up for it . Not sure that Mrs L will be, though...
