Grumble Grumble moan

I have had a number of el-cheapo SD cards with failed locking tab's bus Sandisk seems to be better built.
The whole write protect tab is a design error in my opinion...
You can solve this however by sticking a piece of thin tape over the indentation where the tab used to be, this usually lets the device think that it is writable.

dear mongoose
perhaps you could try sticking the point of a darning needle ( that shows my age!) into where the lug was & try moving the little inner slide back up. If this works, (or if it doesnt) have a peer downthe card slot to see if the lug is down there,& try gently tapping it out, & then have a moan at PENTAX!
Best of luck! ( )

I think goosey is better off moaning at Sandisk - they made the card not Pentax!

cheers guys, I've never had exactly this problem with my cheapo cards. The lock luggs on them move pretty easily but I think that's just because they are cheap and nasty cards. The Sandisk had been great until I came to get it out of its case and the lug was gone.
Still if it was going to do this I'm glad it's done it now and not in a few weeks time when I'm on holiday in Canada.

well I got an e-mail straight back from 7dayshop apologising and offering a replacement or refund.
Just hope my replacement card arrives before I go on holiday.

I thought the lug must have been knocked, so I took the card out to find that the lug is missing!
I bought a Sandisk one this time in the hopes that the lugs would be better made, since my other cards often lock themselves when I insert them into the camera. Apparently this particular card isn't that well made though. I shall be having words with 7dayshop as the card is only 2 weeks old.
