Nicely done mike, are the weevils really that colour?

Nice pics. Love the compound on the weevils eyes.

If youa re after IDs, the weevil is a nettle weevil and the hover fly is a marmalade (hover)fly

That's a very pretty weevil. I think I would prefer just a little more dof on that one though. The colour is Shahan-esque!

The hoverfly is spot on. Maybe I'd crop out some of the green on the right hand side to 'de-centralise' the hoverfly and restore a normal aspect ratio.

Love the hoverfly shot, the DOF and colours are just perfect to my eyes. Agree with Pentaxophile that you could crop off some of the right hand side. It's a beaut!

Thanks for the comments .. they spurred me into the crop that I knew I should have done from the beginning but was basically too lazy to do as it involved a fair bit of cloning out.
