I too am retaining my existing camera (K5) as I see them as complementary and that is what finally allowed me to resolve my upgrade doubts. Two cameras means less lens changing, the ability to do video and take stills of the same scene, one with longer HD videos, the other with higher quality video but less control, one with more detailed low ISO images, the other with perhaps better high ISO performance and as better cropability is important to me, K-3 will be useful for that. Two horses, two courses and maximum flexibility plus of course backup. Glad I got it... but apart from the 1.4x T/C, that's IT, no more LBA or CBA - for a few years anyway!

Star systems are always a bit contentious, but the value for money rating was based on the price at the time the test was done. It was me that did that rating and I based it on the current SRS price at the time, which is the price we would all actually have paid. The price that was quoted was decided by someone else, so didn't come into my equation. Hope that helps clarify it a little!

When it was orignally reviewed by John it was a bit pricey, I know because I bought our mutual one then!
Second time around, price was was much better, New price at the moment can be better still!
Still too soon for a K3 MkII/s, I reckon, More likely a K70 (?) in the Spring and a New K3 in the Autumn of next year.
FF, no Idea, Totally not my ball game any more, something I'm pretty glad about actually...

I'm still learning to use the K3 and to fine tune the settings, but I think you re right Jules, the K5 is very tolerant of underexposure because you can pull the shadows so much. The K£ requires you to pay slightly more attention, not a bad thing in its way.Dave-L wrote:

One great improvement for me was the positioning of the AF button. As a recent convert to back-button focussing, the K3 placement is far better than on the K5 for me. I also like the option of three continuous shooting speeds, gives me less chance of filling the buffer.

About the buffer in general. AS also shown and demonstrated on YouTube...
For most of the quality level memory cards out on the market; while using the K3, jpeg and raw, and then going at maximum frame rate... It would be a bit difficult to actually fill up the buffer on the K3.
Could easily do well over one hundred continuous photographs without being anywhere near bogged down or running out of buffer. But at those settings, it would almost be worth switching over to video
