I'm astonished this is someone with more time than sense. Although I have seriously been toying with the idea of making my own wet collodian plates...

thats amazing! I've had some small experience with (non-photographic) thin film coating and it's not at all trivial to get an even coating. I wish I had the knowledge, skills or patience to even attempt such a thingamajig.
