I suppose it's also possible that it's just a very soft lens and you've cropped a lot - what lens did you use?

Good images despite the slight blurriness. Perhaps you used a bit too slow shutter speed? The da 55-300 is a pretty good lens in my opinion, though there can be better and worse copies.

should i go for the sigma 120-400mm or the 150-500mm
and what prices should I expect to pay second hand and before every one say's "I have one you can buy", I'm just window shopping I will not be looking for one until after Christmas

the male look's out of focus to me but I don't under stand it really because i was on a tripod and using a cable and there was no glass or netting to get in the way of focusing. out of focus or not I love this image but anyway please look and advise for next time.
