Gone from Cows to Sheep

Filled the 4Gig card with images at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh last weekend.

Thought I would share a few with you, any shepherds out there ?

Here is a 'flock' of sheep that caught my eye.

All were under cover, ( not in the 'Secret Agent' meaning ), so it was big apertures and a steady hand

All K10D + Sigma 105

I really like the last one, composition works quite well. Perhaps the eye could have been a little closer to the centre (on a line of 3rds?).

The texture is so good though.

Baa.

I don't think sheep taste as good as cows, but #3, with the green area cropped out works best of the bunch for me....

I like #3 best,

You've never tried roast Welsh lamb.

Lamb tastes a lot better than beef. Fresh welsh lamb is even better as it has not travelled all the way from New Zealand and been in storage.

AS a card carrying member of PETA I think that.....

Darn - can't even type that with a straight face...

Have to side with Don on this one - There isn't a lamb recipe in the world that can stand up to a properly done strip loin steak...

it's harder to get proper cuts of lamb, never mind properly prepared, in Manitoba. I find the fat leaves a slightly pungent, filmy coating on the roof of my mouth....
Now getting a nice slice of angus beef, slightly singed is easy enough...
then there's ordering up a properly roasted hog (Danny's Whole Hog BBQ, if you're ever throwing a party in winnipeg).
Oh, great now I've slobbered all over my macbook...

ps that's a WHOLE hog...roasted to perfection, that arrives ready to eat, on an ambulance gurney!

As a Scotsman, I hate to say this, but grilled salt-marsh, Welsh lamb chops, must rate as a food 'Wonder of the World'.

The sheep pictures I posted are of a ewe and two rams, when viewed together I felt the ewe at the top was 'saying' I don't want to be here, where as the two rams were giving the impression, 'bring it on'.

I'll have to stop anthropomorphizing

These are hairy Highland Cattle, so you might need to 'shave em'
before you BBQ them ???

You'll have to come to Wales and try out what we are talking about before committing yourself.

I have to say that a big very rare roast side of beef is magnificent too. I wouldn't care to say which is better; they are both sublime.
